Many children grow up with a love for the ocean. They enjoy swimming and exploring the great depths, but sometimes their adventures end in disaster.

Parents try their best to protect their kids from looming danger, but they can’t always prevent injury. One ten-year-old boy found himself in a terrifying situation, but his absolute faith and strength surprised everyone.

THE SOUND NO PARENT WANTS TO HEAR

Jameson Reeder Jr. loved spending time in the water and couldn’t wait to snorkel with his family in August 2022. The group was having a great time and making memories when everything changed suddenly.

While the devastating encounter shocked everyone, the little boy’s attitude was what truly surprised bystanders.

A traumatic event occurred within a few seconds, forcing Jameson Jr.’s dad to act quickly. Jameson Sr. heard the sound no mother or father wants to hear—his son’s blood-curdling screaming and crying.

THE NIGHTMARISH INCIDENT

The dad knew he needed to remain calm and get his family to safety. He helped his other kids, Noah, Nehemiah, and Eliana, onto the boat.

Then the brave father instructed Jameson Jr. to cling to a pool noodle while they made their way to him. Jameson Sr. jumped into the water and retrieved his injured child.

EMERGENCY HELP FROM STRANGERS

A sea creature had attacked Jameson Jr., and the family believed it was an eight-foot Bullshark—everyone was horrified and worried about the youngster’s survival.

HE KEPT REPEATING THE SAME WORDS

Throughout the ordeal, Jameson Jr. repeated a significant phrase, and his family believed his faith was what helped him fight. Jameson Jr. never stopped saying: “Jesus will save me, Jesus will save me.”

The youngster’s uncle, Joshua Reeder, also shared an unforgettable moment that occurred while he was on the phone with his brother, Jameson Sr. Joshua shared:

“Jameson [Sr.] was on the phone saying he [saw] the chopper lifting his son and wife. As I heard him saying this, [I heard] his other kids singing, ‘Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.'”

LIFE-CHANGING SURGERY

Family friend James Miller revealed the tense and anxious atmosphere in the Nicklaus Children’s Hospital as the family waited for news about their precious child. He said: “It’s a miracle he’s alive. You hear about shark bites, but they’re so rare.”

The little boy needed surgery, and there were not many favorable options. However, the family remained grateful Jameson Jr.’s life was spared and that they weren’t preparing for a funeral. Joshua recalled:

“[Doctors] had to remove/amputate from just below the knee to save his life as it was not operable from the damage the shark had caused. They said the shark made the decision for him.”

While many other kids might’ve struggled to smile after such a harrowing ordeal, Jameson Jr. was different. His infectious positivity didn’t falter, and he encouraged everyone around him.

Life would never be the same again, and he needed another surgery—but because of his faith in God, Jameson Jr. had hope for the future. Joshua expressed how proud their family was of the youngster, and he said:

“Jameson Jr. is already setting up goals for himself like the incredible young boy he is. While you can see the shock and emotions in his eyes, you can still see this bright light of positivity shining through.”

Joshua and his family flew from Hawaii to Florida to be with the youngster. He revealed that the little boy’s parents were doing well under the circumstances and were confident their son’s life was spared miraculously. The uncle added:

“The more we talk together and learn about the facts of how everything unfolded, the more and more evident it appears that it is a pure miracle he is still alive and with us today.”

PRAYERS AND DONATIONS FOR THE FAMILY

Family and friends created a GiveSendGo fundraising page for Jameson Jr.’s medical costs. The Reeders were in full-time ministry and thankful for any donations.

By mid-August 2022, more than $62,000 had been raised. An entry on the fundraising page stated:

“We are asking for prayers and any additional financial help to support this family as they recover both physically and mentally. One thing we know is Jameson Jr.’s fearless faith in God carried him.”

A LONG ROAD TO RECOVERY

The page included a list of pressing and upcoming developments. Doctors were still determining the best pain management for Jameson Jr. and hoped he could begin physical therapy shortly. An entry on the family’s GiveSendGo page continued:

“Please keep covering Jameson [Sr.] and Mary in prayer for their strength of heart and mind. Lastly, continue to pray for sweet Jameson Jr. as he enters into the journey of physical therapy.”

Having grown up in the horticulture industry, Johnny Georges realized that the average farmer was wasting millions of gallons of water each year to irrigate their crop. Seeing a desperate need for reform, he set out to invent a product that would revolutionize the way farmers operated their businesses.

When the judges saw that Johnny Georges wouldn’t budge, each one backed out of partnering with him. Just when he had lost hope, panelist John Paul DeJoria spoke up, offering the humble farmer the deal of a lifetime.

“Farmers are the cornerstone of America. There may be a lot of farmers out there that can’t afford $12 per tree but maybe they can afford $6 or $7,” DeJoria said. “I’m going to give you everything you’re asking for — your $150,000 for 20 percent. What you’re doing is right and you deserve the chance to make it big and do a lot of good. I’d like to be your partner, Johnny.”

Without hesitation, Georges accepted the unexpected offer, and the pair shook hands, sealing the deal. It was then that the motivating force behind the farmer’s ingenuity was revealed.

Suddenly, a loud voice spoke behind her, offering to help.

Janice hated arguing with her granddaughter Sadie about the importance of church visits. “Not again…Please come to church with me…you’ll feel better under His presence.”

Sadie had recently lost her parents in a car crash, and the unfortunate incident ripped off her faith in God.

“What will visiting church change in my life? Will my parents come back? Or will it change the fact that I’m an orphan?” she cried.

Sadie had fixed her mind not to enter the church all her life, but that very afternoon, another tragedy in tow made her do it and beg God for help…

“Sadie, sweetheart, you shouldn’t say that. Remember, God will surely respond if you pray hard and ask Him,” advised Janice as she left home for church. She usually returned home within an hour but never showed up for a long time that fateful day.

“What is it, dear? I heard you, and I’m ready to help you,” she heard a voice behind her.
“Yes, this is Sadie, her granddaughter. Which hospital? I’m on my way….”

Sadie was crying alone at home, thinking about her parents, when she got a call from a stranger who informed her that Janice had been accidentally hit by a vehicle on her way home from church.

“Grandma? Doctor, can I go inside? I want to see her. Please let me in!” cried Sadie. But the nurse and doctor pulled her away and comforted her, prohibiting her from entering the emergency ward.

“Sadie?”

“Yes, I’m Sadie, her granddaughter.”

“Hello Sadie, we found your ID in her purse, and that’s how we contacted you. What is your blood type?”

Sadie was shocked. “O positive.”

“Oh my… Nurse, hurry and check the blood bank if they have any donor matching Mrs. Fletcher’s blood type.”

“What is it, doctor? What happened to grandma?”

“Sadie, your grandma has lost a lot of blood and needs a donor with AB negative blood type immediately. It’s a rare blood type. Let’s pray we can find a donor soon enough to save your grandmother.”

The revelation shook Sadie. She contacted all her friends and even the blood banks she knew of, but no donor was available.

“Why is this happening only to me?” she cried.

“Sadie, don’t worry. We will try our best,” assured the doctor, hurrying away to find a donor.

The girl did not lose hope. She searched the internet and reached out to all the available blood banks in the city.

“I’m sorry, but we don’t have AB negative. We will put you in a queue, but you may have to wait a while because you’re number 877,” informed a blood bank attendant who Sadie had called.

“Doctor, have you found a donor? Any progress?” Sadie asked, hurrying behind the doctor.

Unfortunately, the doctor did not have any good news to share with Sadie. “We can only wait. We didn’t find a donor yet. Let’s wait for a miracle and pray.”

That’s when Sadie recalled her granny telling her about prayers and faith. She hurried out of the hospital and ran to the church Janice often visited.

“God, please save my grandma…Please help me find someone with AB-negative blood type,” Sadie cried in front of the crucifix. “I am sorry, and I promise to come to church with her. Please save her life. Please don’t take her away from me. She is all I have left. Please give me a sign that nothing will happen to her. Please, I need my granny back. Please help me. Show me that you’re real.”

A priest stood before her, holding the Holy Bible. He gently touched her head and assured her he would help.

“I am ready to donate blood to your granny… I am AB negative,” said Father Francis, lighting up hope and faith in the 10-year-old girl’s eyes.

They arrived at the hospital just in time. Doctors predicted Janice would go into a coma without a timely blood transfusion.

“Thank you, Father. I’ll never forget your help,” cried Sadie before Father Francis left.

“Don’t thank me, dear. Thank God because He sent me there right on time to hear you!”

Sadie’s heart lightened up. She snapped away her tears, and eventually, Janice gained consciousness. She was discharged from the hospital two days later.

“Sweetheart, I’m glad to be going home, safe and sound,” said Janice on their way out of the hospital. “Shall we go home now?”

“No, grandma…not yet,” replied Sadie. “We still haven’t visited a place.”

“What is it?” Janice curiously asked as Sadie led her by the hand and pointed her finger at something two minutes later.

“There. We will spend some time in the church! God exists…he really does…I also realized that if He takes something from us, He always gives something back…He gave you back to me!”

Janice could not help but shed tears of joy. Meanwhile, Father Francis smiled and walked away with his Bible after seeing a silhouette of Janice and Sadie entering the church.

What can we learn from this story?

God never lets down his believers. Place your faith in Him and ask; you will definitely get what you want. Sadie stopped believing in God after losing her parents. But her faith and hope in miracles were restored after she found help in the church to save her granny’s life.

Believe in miracles because you might need them the most when everything else fails. When Sadie and the doctors lost hope in finding the rare blood type to save Janice, a priest stepped in to help after hearing Sadie’s cries in church. It was nothing but a pure miracle right in God’s presence.
