Steven Seagal today: Net worth, children, family, wife

Steven Seagal, the Hollywood celebrity who rose to fame almost overnight, has experienced a turbulent and intriguing life journey, marked by his passion for martial arts and a multifaceted career.

Born on April 10, 1952, in Lansing, Michigan, Seagal’s family relocated to Fullerton, California, when he was five. He developed a deep affinity for blues music and martial arts at a young age, two passions that would shape his life.

At 17, Seagal worked as a dishwasher at a restaurant where a karate-trained chef recognized his interest in martial arts and began teaching him some moves. This ignited Seagal’s passion for martial arts, eventually leading him to Japan to master various disciplines like karate, judo, kendo, and aikido, earning black belts in each.

Seagal made history as the first Westerner to open a dojo (a school for self-defense arts) in Japan, solidifying his reputation as a martial arts pioneer.

Returning to the United States, Seagal applied his martial arts expertise. Frustrated by Hollywood’s portrayal of martial arts in movies, he moved to Los Angeles to share his knowledge and pursue acting. He featured in films like “The Challenge” (1982) and “Never Say Never Again” (1983), where he even broke Sean Connery’s wrist during training.

Hollywood agent Michael Ovitz, impressed by Seagal’s skills, supported his screen test with Warner Bros., launching his successful acting career. Seagal starred in over 50 films, becoming an international star, most notably known for “Under Siege.”

However, Seagal’s personal life has been tumultuous. He’s been married four times and has seven children. His relationships with his children have been strained, with his eldest son, Kentaro, stating they no longer speak.

Currently residing in Moscow, Russia, since gaining Russian citizenship in 2016, Seagal works as a “special representative for Russian-US humanitarian ties.” He left the United States amidst legal troubles related to unpaid fees for promoting a digital token.

In recent photos shared on his Instagram account, the 69-year-old actor looks almost unrecognizable. Despite the controversies and challenges, Steven Seagal maintains a net worth of $16 million, a testament to his enduring presence in the world of entertainment.
