On That’s My Jam, Kelly Clarkson and Ariana Grande competed in a karaoke battle that displayed their skills. The first episode of That’s My Jam was inspired by Jimmy Fallon’s games. Over four million Americans watched it on November 29, 2021. Grande partnered with Blake Shelton, while Clarkson collaborated with John Legend.
The last round, “Mixtape Medley Showdown,” saw two pop titans fighting to the end. Pop icon Grande, who has sold over 90 million songs and won two Grammys, was in one corner. Clarkson won the inaugural season of American Idol in 2002 and has sold over 70 million records and won three Grammys.
Grande sank forward in dread when the round appeared on the screen, warning Shelton, “We’re done for!” Jimmy Fallon spun a computerized wheel to choose the two performers’ mixtape title. It hit “Pop Divas” and the crowd yelled, thinking it would be great.
With Britney Spears’ “Oops!… I Did It Again” as the first song, the live band began the background track. Grande sung this well and danced. Clarkson then sang Shania Twain’s “Any Man of Mine” with incredible strength. Grande sang Cher’s “Believe” and Clarkson reacted with Alanis Morrisette’s “You Outta Know”.
