Students from Wyoming University died in a car crash on a Colorado highway.

The Wyoming community is mourning the tragic loss of three talented University of Wyoming student athletes who were members of the swim team. Carson Muir, Charlie Clark, and Luke Slabber lost their lives in a devastating car crash on Highway 287 near Fort Collins, Colorado. The accident occurred around 2:45 pm on Thursday, February 22, when the Toyota Rav4 they were traveling in swerved to avoid hitting a slowing car and overturned multiple times.

The university community, deeply shocked by the sudden loss, has rallied together to offer support and condolences to the grieving families and the swim team. Students and faculty members alike are extending sympathy and assistance during this difficult time.

While investigations into the crash are ongoing, authorities from the Colorado State Patrol have not ruled out factors such as speed or distractions as potential causes. Fortunately, two other members of the men’s swimming and diving team who were in the car during the crash sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and have since been discharged from the hospital.

Jace Smith, a student at the university, expressed the profound sadness felt by the entire community, especially as they prepare to welcome the women’s swim team back from Texas. Messages of support and encouragement are being shared throughout the campus in an effort to uplift the grieving teammates.

Wyoming Athletic Director Tom Burman issued a statement urging for support for the families of the students who tragically lost their lives. He emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity within the community, emphasizing the slogan “One Wyoming” to symbolize the collective support for the university’s teams.

As the Wyoming and Colorado communities come together to mourn this devastating loss, heartfelt condolences are extended to the families, friends, and teammates of Carson Muir, Charlie Clark, and Luke Slabber. Their memories will forever be cherished within the University of Wyoming community.
