George Harrison’s Son, Dhani, Joins Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers In Moving Tribute

Concert for George was not Dhani’s sole appearance with people from his father’s musical circle. He remained connected with several of George’s old friends, among them Tom Petty, and the pair performed together multiple times. Their collaborations are described as continuing for more than 20 years beyond the Harrison memorial.

One cited reunion took place during the Rock Hall 2004 Induction. There, Dhani and Petty joined other Traveling Wilburys members for “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.” The performance again put Dhani alongside artists whose work and friendships had been closely tied to George.

For Harrison’s admirers, Dhani’s looks and guitar ability have repeatedly recalled his father. These appearances also showed George’s friends including Dhani in their performances. That connection kept him near his father’s musical legacy, while his own playing allowed him to participate in it rather than simply inherit it. At Concert for George, his place on guitar served as both a tribute to his father and a demonstration of the talent passed between them.
