Groban has also appeared regularly at BBC Radio 2. A separate live studio performance of “The Impossible Dream” generated 14 million views on a BBC video. In that session, the Californian hitmaker performed the established song from the musical Man of La Mancha.
That BBC rendition illustrated Groban’s ability to interpret classic material in his own distinctive way. The performance of “The Impossible Dream” provided another widely watched example of his work with Radio 2, alongside the Last Night of the Proms appearance in Hyde Park.
Rolf Løvland composed the music for “You Raise Me Up,” while Brendan Graham wrote the lyrics. Løvland initially issued the composition without vocals in 2001, and Secret Garden released its first sung version the following year. Groban released his recording on September 10, 2004; it later earned triple Platinum certification in the United States.
