The journey of this song has not been without its challenges, particularly regarding the spread of misinformation online. Earlier this year, the internet was briefly swept by entirely unfounded rumors claiming that Romany had passed away at the age of 22. These reports were completely false and lacked any basis in reality. The confusion was swiftly dispelled by the artist herself, who maintained an active presence on social media. Specifically, a post shared on her Instagram account on March 30th—featuring a photoshoot set in a forest—provided clear, visual evidence that she is alive, well, and continuing to focus on her burgeoning career.

The track “Between Two Points” serves as a cornerstone of David Gilmour’s 2024 studio album, Luck and Strange. This record, which arrived in September 2024, is particularly notable for being the guitarist’s first full-length studio release in nine years. It also marks the first time that David and Romany have officially collaborated on a studio recording. The momentum generated by their viral rehearsal video led to further public appearances, including a televised performance on Later… with Jools Holland. That specific broadcast has since drawn 2.8 million views online, further cementing the song’s status as a standout moment in Gilmour’s recent discography.

The reception from the public has been one of genuine appreciation, with many listeners highlighting the song’s lack of artifice. One viewer remarked that David’s genius lies in his emotional use of simplicity, noting that the track avoids unnecessary vocal gymnastics in favor of a devastatingly pure delivery. Another longtime Pink Floyd fan, reflecting on fifty years of following the guitarist’s work, expressed surprise and delight at the discovery of this collaboration, praising the beautiful vocal performance. This partnership has successfully bridged the gap between generations, merging David’s established rock sensibilities with the ethereal, contemporary nuances brought by his daughter. As of the latest status, David Gilmour continues to tour and promote Luck and Strange, with this collaboration standing as a testament to his enduring and evolving creative spirit, confirming that both artists remain active and fully engaged in their musical journey.
