A Life Beyond the Screen

Before television brought him recognition, Dysert grew up in Illinois, a background Michelle described with evident pride as he went on to become an actor, filmmaker, musician, and acting teacher. His work extended far past his own performances.

Michelle credited him with mentoring thousands of aspiring performers over the years. “He was a life changer!!” she wrote, describing someone whose storytelling and humor made an impression on everyone who crossed his path.

Facing Cancer With Courage

In 2023, Dysert published a memoir titled Lights, Camera, Cancer, in which he revealed he had been diagnosed with a rare, aggressive, and incurable form of cancer. The book detailed the extensive treatment he underwent in the years that followed.

Michelle said he met that diagnosis with determination, humor, and gratitude, qualities she suggested defined him both on and off the page. She did not elaborate on the specifics of his illness or treatment beyond what he had already shared publicly.

A Wife’s Tribute

Rather than dwell on his illness, Michelle’s farewell centered on the life she and Dysert shared together. She wrote of their travels, their laughter, and the simple happiness of being in each other’s company through the years.

Her message closed with a line that captured the depth of their partnership: “I would choose you all over again, without hesitation.”

Alan Dysert is survived by his wife Michelle and his two sons, Cody and Cooper.
