It looks simple enough.
But there is a reason people are staring at this picture much longer than they expected.
Hidden somewhere inside the drawing are three everyday objects that do not belong on the farm.
Your challenge is to find them all.
You are looking for a glove, a banana, and a fork.
Sounds easy?
Take another look before deciding.
The artist has cleverly blended each object into the surrounding illustration, using familiar shapes and lines to disguise them as ordinary parts of the scene.
That is what makes hidden-object puzzles like this surprisingly difficult.
Your brain immediately recognizes the obvious things.
Girl.
Horse.
Goat.
Fence.
Trees.
Carrot.
Once your mind decides what it is looking at, it tends to keep interpreting those shapes in the same way.
But somewhere among those familiar details are three things that should not be there.
Start with the glove.
Instead of searching for a perfectly drawn glove sitting openly in the scene, examine the shapes around the girl carefully.
Look at her clothing.
Her arms.
The outlines near her hands.
A hidden object may be incorporated into something you have already looked at several times without realizing it.
Next comes the banana.
This one may be especially deceptive because of its curved shape.
Curves appear naturally throughout an illustration like this.
The body of an animal.
A tail.
A branch.
A piece of clothing.
Even part of the landscape could potentially disguise something shaped like a banana.
Try temporarily forgetting what each part of the picture is supposed to represent.
Instead, look only at its shape.
That small change in perspective can make a hidden object suddenly appear.
Then there is the fork.
This may sound like the easiest object to recognize because a fork has several distinctive prongs.
But those straight, parallel lines can blend surprisingly well into a detailed black-and-white drawing.
Look closely at areas containing several narrow lines grouped together.
They may initially resemble hair, grass, clothing details, part of the fence, or even an animal’s features.
The trick is not to rush.
Many people scan the image quickly, decide they cannot see anything unusual, and immediately give up.
But visual puzzles are designed to take advantage of the way our brains process familiar scenes.
When you first see a horse, for example, your brain recognizes the entire animal instead of carefully analyzing every individual line used to draw it.
The same thing happens with the girl, the goat, and the surrounding landscape.
That allows an artist to hide an unrelated object inside something completely familiar.
One useful strategy is to divide the illustration into sections.
Begin in the upper-left corner.
Move slowly across the top.
Then examine the center.
Finally, inspect the lower part of the picture.
This prevents your eyes from repeatedly jumping toward the horse or the girl—the largest and most noticeable elements in the scene.
Another technique is to look away for a few seconds and then return to the puzzle.
It sounds simple, but resetting your attention can help.
Sometimes an object you completely missed the first ten times suddenly becomes obvious.
You can also try viewing the picture from farther away or changing the angle slightly.
Hidden-object puzzles often rely on visual interpretation, so changing how you look at the image can change what your brain recognizes.
And resist the temptation to search for the answers immediately.
The moment someone points out a hidden object, it usually becomes impossible not to see it.
You may even wonder how you overlooked something that now appears completely obvious.
That is part of the fun.
So take another careful look.
Somewhere in this peaceful farm scene are:
a glove, a banana, and a fork.
Can you find all three without any help?
If you spot them, challenge someone else before revealing the locations.
You may be surprised by which object they notice immediately—and which one keeps them staring at the picture for several minutes.
Sometimes the hardest things to see are not truly hidden at all.
They are sitting right in front of us, disguised as something our brain has already decided it understands.
