With broken hearts, we share the sad news about this talented actress and groundbreaking woman – the way she was taken from us is so sad

Johnson died on November 4 after suffering what her family described as a “heart event” at her Los Angeles home on October 27. She was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where doctors diagnosed what her niece, Rhonda Scott, described as a “heart aneurysm condition.” An official cause of death has not yet been publicly confirmed.

Scott remembered her aunt not simply for her work in entertainment, but for the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her.

“She radiated a light so strong and bright. People who came in contact with her felt nothing but positive energy. We will miss her tremendously and will continue to honor her life forever.”

Johnson’s path to Hollywood began long before her appearance on one of television’s most recognizable teen dramas.

Raised in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, she unexpectedly entered the beauty pageant world in the early 1990s.

Johnson reportedly had little pageant experience when she entered the Miss Pennsylvania USA competition after seeing an opportunity and deciding to take a chance.

That decision changed the direction of her life.

She won the state title and went on to compete at the Miss USA pageant, where she emerged as a finalist. Contemporary reports differ slightly on whether she placed in the top five or top six, but the national exposure helped open doors in modeling and entertainment.

Johnson once reflected on how unexpected the victory had been.

“I didn’t think I was ever going to win. Even right now, it’s hard for me to believe I won. I just entered because I thought it would be something nice to do.”

Her success in pageantry helped lead to modeling work, eventually taking her to New York and later Los Angeles.

Johnson worked in print and runway modeling and was associated with major fashion and beauty names including Vidal Sassoon, Oscar de la Renta, United Colors of Benetton, and Lady Footlocker.

By the late 1990s, she had begun pursuing acting more seriously.

In 1998, Johnson appeared as Judy in an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210, joining the long list of actors whose careers crossed paths with the iconic series.

The same year, she appeared in Let’s Talk About Sex.

Her later screen credits included projects such as Dude, Where’s My Car?, V.I.P., Shadow Fury, Wanda at Large, Break a Leg, and Tucker’s War.

Her career, however, extended far beyond acting.

Johnson remained active as a model and producer and eventually moved into the beauty industry.

In 2011, she launched SkinGlow by Kimmarie, a skincare and beauty brand that reflected her growing interest in helping women feel confident about their appearance and personal care routines.

Motherhood also became a major part of her life.

Johnson welcomed her son, Cameron Nino, in 2003 and stepped away from acting for a period while focusing on raising him.

She later returned to entertainment and continued working in modeling, including public appearances and editorial work.

In fact, Johnson remained professionally active shortly before her death.

She appeared on the digital cover of Grazia Slovenia in August 2026 and had also attended a Los Angeles red-carpet event earlier in the year, underscoring that her modeling career continued well into the final months of her life.

News of her death has brought renewed attention to the many different chapters of her career.

Some remember her from the beauty pageant stage.

Others recognize her from fashion campaigns and runway work.

Television fans may remember her appearance on Beverly Hills, 90210.

And those closest to her are remembering something far more personal — the woman whose energy, warmth, and optimism reportedly filled every room she entered.

Johnson’s death at just 50 adds another sad chapter to the extended Beverly Hills, 90210 family, which has mourned several cast members and collaborators over the years.

But her legacy was never limited to one television appearance.

From an unexpected pageant victory in Pennsylvania to modeling, Hollywood, motherhood, and entrepreneurship, Kimmarie Johnson built a career that crossed several different worlds.

And according to those who loved her, the brightest part of that legacy may ultimately be the positivity she left behind.
