‘We Left. As Did LOTS of the Crowd’: Fans Shame Miranda Lambert for Her Behavior at Montana Festival – What Happened?

Miranda Lambert is under fire once again for her behavior at a recent music festival, sparking disappointment among many fans. This is not the first time the country music star has faced backlash for her actions on stage, and it seems her latest conduct has further alienated some concertgoers.

The incident occurred during her performance at the Montana Festival on July 14, where a video captured by an attendee showed Lambert reprimanding the crowd. The footage, which quickly spread across social media, shows the singer visibly frustrated with the audience. Dressed in a cowboy hat and a denim dress adorned with tassels, Lambert addressed the crowd directly, calling out those whose attention wasn’t focused on her performance.

In the video, Lambert can be heard saying, “I can see your head is not turned the right way, which is this way,” while pointing toward herself. Her southern twang and sharp tone made it clear that she was annoyed by the lack of attention. Some fans responded with cheers, but it was evident that others were caught off guard by her reaction.

As the moment unfolded, Lambert didn’t hold back. “So, if you came to visit, you can do it somewhere else,” she added, signaling that she wasn’t interested in entertaining those who weren’t fully engaged in the show. For fans eager to enjoy the performance, Lambert reassured them, saying, “If you came to sing and hear some country music and drink some beer […] then we’re doing that tonight.”

The country star’s frustration wasn’t just limited to inattentive audience members. She also called out individuals in the crowd who appeared to be causing a disturbance. “Are we clear?” Lambert asked while raising her hands, seemingly addressing people involved in some sort of scuffle. She made a lighthearted comment about it, saying, “Fighting is not ok […] And it’s always the girls. We get crazy!” Her tone shifted as she chuckled, trying to lighten the mood before raising her cup in a toast to the audience.

After raising her cup to signal a cheers, Lambert discovered her drink was empty. She promptly shook her cup toward the stage crew, requesting a refill. “Mine’s empty,” she mentioned, and within seconds, someone from her team replaced it with a new drink. “This looks like a good time for a drink y’all!” she shouted, arms stretched wide, as she attempted to move past the tension in the crowd.

The video, shared by a TikTok user, was accompanied by a caption asking for opinions: “Thoughts? 🤷🏻‍♀️ #mirandalambert #underthebigsky #whitefishmontana #countrymusic.” As expected, the comment section quickly filled with reactions, many of which were negative. “We left. As did LOTS of the crowd,” one attendee revealed. Another user called the situation “terrible,” while someone else commented, “I stopped liking Miranda for this exact reason.”

Some fans who had witnessed Lambert’s behavior firsthand at previous events also weighed in. “This has always been her. I remember it from her county fair days. [Never] paid to see her again,” one person remarked. The backlash continued, with another TikTok user criticizing, “Miranda, [you’re] okay at best. Not amazing. Please respect your fans more. They made you what you are. Without them you’d be some nobody working at Dairy Queen. Respectfully, just shut up and sing.”

Despite the wave of criticism, not everyone was upset with Lambert’s actions. One fan who was in the front row praised her performance, stating, “Honestly she was amazing. We were right up front and loved every second of it.” Another admirer echoed similar sentiments, gushing, “🔥🔥🔥🔥 I LOVE her. Always have. Has been a huge influence for me. She is just brutally honest. Something so many of us lack. Honesty!”

This isn’t the first time Lambert has made headlines for confronting her audience. She has long been known for speaking her mind during her performances. At a previous concert in Las Vegas, while singing her hit song “Tin Man,” Lambert stopped mid-performance to address a group of women who were taking selfies during the show. Lambert was clearly annoyed and asked her band to stop playing before pointing out the women in the crowd. “These girls are worried about their selfie and not listening to the song, and it’s pissed me off a little bit,” she declared.

The audience reacted with loud cheers, but Lambert didn’t back down, reiterating her frustration with the selfie-taking during a heartfelt moment in the show. Echoing her recent remarks, she made it clear that people should be focusing on the music. She motioned for the women to put their phones down, asking, “Shall we start again?” As her pianist restarted the song, some audience members left the venue, visibly upset by the interaction.

Social media users have continued to debate Lambert’s actions. “Yikes this was completely out of line and awkward. She’s not a teacher here 😅,” one TikToker commented regarding the Montana incident. Another person expressed sympathy for the fans Lambert had called out, writing, “Omg… and then imagine how they felt after this???” Someone else found humor in the situation, saying, “The people leaving right after she did it lmaoooo that was great!” A Taylor Swift fan even weighed in, adding, “Taylor [Swift] would never 😏.”

Lambert’s blunt approach to handling her audience continues to divide fans, with some appreciating her honesty and others finding it off-putting. As a performer who’s never been afraid to speak her mind, Lambert’s interactions with her fans seem to reflect her strong personality. While she continues to attract large crowds and loyal fans, it’s clear that her onstage behavior leaves others questioning whether they’ll attend her future shows.

The debate over Miranda Lambert’s actions at the Montana Festival shows how polarizing she can be. Some love her no-nonsense attitude and authenticity, while others find her confrontational approach distasteful. Regardless, it seems Lambert is unapologetically herself, and for better or worse, she’s not afraid to let her audience know exactly how she feels.
