With a series of executive orders intended to increase the production of fossil fuels in the United States, President Donald Trump is actively reversing the climate policies of former President Joe Biden.
These directives protect new drilling and energy projects and declare a “energy emergency.” Trump has backed the expansion of offshore drilling, the simplification of energy infrastructure, and the mining of vital minerals.
His position is a clear rejection of Biden’s climate agenda, which calls for tighter controls on fossil fuels and a return to the Paris Agreement. Despite analysts’ predictions of limited production growth due to current oil prices, Trump is focused on delivering on his “drill, baby drill” promises.
It is anticipated that environmental organizations will contest these measures in court, which could pose implementation challenges.
