Over the weekend, Shakira appeared to notice a fan filming her dress at a nightclub in Miami and abruptly left the stage.
The 47-year-old Colombian singer is seen performing a preview of her upcoming December single, “Soltera,” on stage in front of the DJ booth in video that was posted on X.
Shakira dances to the song while sporting a patterned minidress. Soon after, the “Hips Don’t Lie” actress wags a finger at a person in the crowd while tugging at the bottom of her dress. Then, as if to acknowledge that she is aware of what is happening, she gestures to her dress and eye.
She resumes dancing before turning back to face the accused criminal and making the hand gesture “cut it out” before readjusting her dress and leaving the stage.
On social media, others have since criticized the “really disappointing behavior.” One tweeter said: “Artists deserve respect and privacy, both on and off stage.” Making sure that everyone is in a safe environment is essential.
A second said, “Whoever was filming should be arrested for sexual assault,” and a third said, “People are gross.”
Another person concurred, saying, “That’s just beyond gross.” “Shakira was perfectly entitled to leave; nobody should have to put up with that kind of rudeness, especially when she’s just listening to her music.” People must learn how to behave in a basic manner.
After Shakira and her two sons, Sasha and Milan, separated from their father, Spanish soccer player Gerard Piqué, last year, they relocated from Barcelona to Miami.
Rumors that Piqué had cheated on her with his current girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti, caused the couple to split up in 2022 after 11 years together.
At the time, the singer posted on Instagram, “I moved to Barcelona to provide stability for my kids, which is what we are now seeking in a different part of the world, close to family, friends, and the sea.” “We begin a new chapter in our quest for their happiness today.”
Shakira will begin her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour in Palm Springs, California, in November. Phoenix, Arizona; Los Angeles, California; San Antonio, Texas; Montreal, Quebec; and Chicago, Illinois are among the other major cities in North America where she will stop.
The tour is in support of Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran, her most recent album, which was released in March. The song “Shakira: Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol 53” on the album contains multiple lyrical allusions to Piqué, which she previously disclosed were related to her management team.
“Please change the lyrics,” Shakira recalled her manager at the time telling her, according to Rolling Stone. Naturally, I was attempting to weigh the risks and potential unforeseen circumstances, but I reminded myself that I’m an artist. I’m a female. I’m a wounded she-wolf, too. Furthermore, nobody ought to advise me on how to lick my wounds.
