One evening, exhausted from a long day at work, I entered the house and noticed something strange right away. Jenna, our intelligent young babysitter, was carrying a towel as she emerged from the restroom, her hair damp. Before I could even ask what was going on, her apologetic smile welcomed me.

“Oh, Mrs. Allen,” she said, appearing a little ashamed. While I was feeding your youngest, she spilled milk all over me. While they were sleeping, I needed to quickly take a shower.

I didn’t agree with her explanation, even though it seemed reasonable. I gave her a quick glance before turning back to the restroom. I carefully said, “I know accidents happen, but I don’t think it’s appropriate for you to take a shower here without asking first.”

Jenna laughed lightly and dismissed my worry. I apologize, but I felt it was preferable to being sticky all day. It was only a brief shower, and the children were unharmed.
