A star was lost in the film industry. Known for his parts in Doctor Who and Harry Potter, actor Simon Fisher-Becker passed away at the age of sixty-three.
Tony, his husband, posted on the late actor’s social media account to announce the news of his passing.
“Hello, everybody. “This is Simon’s husband, Tony,” the post said. “I have some really depressing news. Simon died this afternoon at 2:50. This account will remain active for some time. Right now, I’m not sure if I’ll be posting again. Thank you.
Kim Barry, his manager, also attested to the actor’s passing.
“I lost a close personal friend of 15 years as well as a client in Simon Fisher-Becker today.
Barry told the New York Post, “I will always remember the phone call I gave him when he was offered the role of Dorium Maldovar in the BBC’s Doctor Who.” Simon was also an excellent public speaker, raconteur, and writer. He was kind, gracious, and interested in everyone, and he really helped me out. My sympathies are with his brother, nieces, nephews, his horde of admirers, and his husband Tony.
He worked as an actor for many years.
Simon Fisher-Becker made a number of noteworthy appearances in well-known British television shows, including One Foot in the Grave, The Bill, and Doctors, in addition to his well-known roles as the blue-skinned intergalactic black marketeer in Doctor Who and the Fat Friar in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.
Additionally, he played a minor role in the Oscar-winning movie Les Misérables.
Fans and other actors expressed their sorrow over Fisher-Becker’s untimely death in the flood of tributes that poured in.
One of the funniest things I’ve heard in a long time was his stage routine. An affectionate man who appreciated his audiences. A fan wrote, “Rest in peace, Simon. Shine on.”
“Very depressing news. Another person said, “I met him at a con a few years ago and he was really lovely.”
“Very distressing to hear. It’s beautiful that the Maldovar market and Dorium are emblazoned throughout Doctor Who’s Moffat era. A third admirer lamented, “He’ll never be forgotten.”
It has not yet been determined what caused the death.
