Newborn baby needs 13 stitches after surgeon ripped open her face during C-section

When Denver resident Reazjhana Williams arrived at the hospital, her plans for a natural birth were quickly derailed.

Things rapidly got out of hand when the doctors were unable to detect the baby’s heartbeat.

Reazjhana’s daughter was born before she could comprehend the situation completely, but to her surprise, the infant had a certain expression on her face when she arrived.

Delivered by cesarean section

After giving birth, the majority of new mothers have the chance to bond with their infants, frequently by holding them on their chest. Among them was Reazjhana. Reazjhana was compelled to turn her daughter over to a plastic surgeon following her C-section delivery.

Let’s begin at the beginning, though.

Reazjhana Williams, eager to give birth to her long-awaited daughter, arrived at a Denver hospital in early June 2021. Although she’s still processing everything that happened, she recalls that the doctors were preparing for an emergency C-section because they were unable to locate the baby’s heartbeat.

The new mother told KDVR, “They gave me a pill to speed up my labor and a few minutes after that I was being rushed into an emergency C-section.”

Both parents were shocked by what transpired next.

A plastic surgeon is consulted.

One side of their face was severely cut after the birth of their daughter Kyanni. The unsightly scar only exacerbated the feelings and anxiety that come with being a new parent.

Kyanni was taken right away to a plastic surgeon so that the wound could be sutured.

Reazjhana stated, “I tried to be understanding about what happened, but there are just a lot of things I’m not understanding with the C-section, on top of the fact her face got cut and a plastic surgeon had to come do it.”

According to Kyanni’s grandmother, the doctors clarified that during the procedure, the baby’s head was positioned extremely close to the placenta wall. According to reports, the baby’s cheek damage horrified the medical staff, who hurried her to plastic surgery.

Thirteen stitches are needed.

Thirteen stitches were needed for Kyanni Williams’ extensive and deep facial laceration.

“After a C-section, I’ve never heard of anyone having to cope with their baby’s face looking like this.”

Regarding the infant, Damarqus remarked, “It’s distressing, she’s not at ease.”

A statement about the incident has been released by Denver Health.

The family has been in direct communication with Denver Health. “Our focus is always on providing care in the best interest of the mother and child, even though this is a known medical complication in emergency C-sections,” the statement said.

“Our top priority at Denver Health is our patients’ safety and wellbeing.”

More than $11,000 has been raised on a GoFundMe page to help the family with incident-related medical costs.
