Stewardess, 20, found dead on superyacht with ‘gashes to neck’

What was meant to be a celebration of youth, adventure, and a new chapter in life has instead become a heartbreaking tragedy. Just days before her 21st birthday, Paige Bell, a South African stewardess known for her warmth, laughter, and kindness, was found dead aboard a luxury yacht in the Bahamas — a vessel ironically named Far From It.

Paige, who had been working in the yachting industry and was well-loved by her colleagues and friends, was discovered on July 3 in the yacht’s engine room. The Royal Bahamas Police Force reported she was found “unresponsive with visible signs of injuries” and was partially undressed. A doctor was called, but it was too late. Paige was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Her radiant spirit, infectious laughter, and boundless compassion made an unforgettable impact on everyone lucky enough to know her,”

wrote one former colleague from a previous yacht assignment. Others in the close-knit yachting world have echoed that sentiment, describing Paige as the “golden girl” who brought light into every room she entered.
The tragedy unfolded at a marina on Harbour Island — a picturesque location often referred to as the “billionaire’s playground.” The yacht Far From It, which rents for up to $140,000 a week and boasts a crew of nine, had been Paige’s workplace. But on that fateful afternoon, it became a crime scene.

Police arrested 40-year-old Brigido Munoz, a Mexican national who was reportedly found in the engine room with Paige. According to authorities, Munoz had self-inflicted injuries on his arms, suggesting a possible suicide attempt. He was transported to the hospital for treatment and has since been formally charged with murder. So far, no additional charges — such as sexual assault — have been filed, though investigators suspect that Paige may have been sexually assaulted, given the state in which her body was found.

Munoz appeared in court in Nassau on July 9, where he was denied bail. His next hearing has been scheduled for November. Paige’s devastated family traveled to the Bahamas to be present at the proceedings, determined to seek justice.

“It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating news that our beautiful Paigey’s life was brutally taken from us,”

her family wrote in a statement posted online on July 4.

“We will leave no stone unturned until the guilty is brought to justice.”

The loss has sent shockwaves through not only Paige’s family and friends but the broader yachting community. Paige had most recently been working aboard Far From It after completing a previous assignment on Sweet Emocean. She was considered a rising star in the industry, admired for both her professionalism and her deeply caring nature.

To support the grieving family, a GoFundMe campaign has been launched and has already raised over $50,000. Contributions continue to pour in from around the world — a reflection of the impact Paige had, even in her short life.

Her birthday, July 14, was meant to mark the beginning of a new decade. Instead, it now stands as a solemn reminder of a life stolen far too soon. As police continue their investigation, Paige’s loved ones are left clinging to memories, seeking truth, and demanding accountability.

In the face of unspeakable grief, one thing remains painfully clear: Paige Bell should have been celebrating her life. Instead, she is mourned by a world that barely got the chance to know just how much of a light she truly was.
