JFK’s grandson sparks criticism after making a joke about Second Lady Usha Vance

Jack Schlossberg, the grandson of John F. Kennedy, has drawn criticism for a string of offensive social media posts that include a strange joke about Vice President J.D. Vance’s wife, Usha Vance.

When Schlossberg declared, “I’m having a son!!” on X (formerly Twitter), on April 6, 2025, the controversy started. Noting that the child would be born out of wedlock, he called it the happiest day of his life. He also wrote on Instagram, “We named Jason Schlossberg! Five pounds, zero ounces. April 6, 2025.

When he uploaded a Photoshopped picture of Usha Vance holding a baby with his own adult face partially covering the child’s head with the caption, “Little Jason and his mom,” things became heated. You never feel ready to start a family. Until the day you become one.

Schlossberg reposted the photo with the caption, “The joke is that I’m capable of producing a male heir,” after People magazine featured it. Social media users referred to him as “an embarrassment” and urged him to take down the posts.

He had previously made offensive remarks about the Vance family. He made reference to his grandmother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, when he tweeted in January 2025, “True or false: Usha Vance is way hotter than Jackie O.” “I’m a literal pervert,” he added the following day. This child will do whatever it takes to gain attention.

He shared another Photoshopped image of Usha Vance kissing his cheek in March, referring to her as “my love, my sweet Ushie.”

Schlossberg acknowledged his online antics are intentional and meant to elicit reactions in an interview with MSNBC’s Jen Psaki. “Flipping people off is half the fight… it’s hard to make an impression on the internet,” he stated.

He also implied that he sees both his cousin RFK Jr. and Vice President Vance as political targets by mentioning trolling them both.
