Miley Cyrus performs her massive hit Flowers at Frank Sinatra’s former mansion in a stunning Disney Plus special

Miley Cyrus solidified her status as a musical titan in 2023, turning her track “Flowers” into a global phenomenon. The song dominated the Billboard Hot 100 for eight non-consecutive weeks, eventually becoming the best-selling single of the year. This immense commercial success culminated in Cyrus winning her first-ever Grammy Awards, specifically securing the prestigious titles of Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. While the original studio recording reached massive audiences across the globe, the raw, live rendition captured in her 42-minute Disney+ special, Miley Cyrus: Endless Summer Vacation, offered a much deeper and more intimate look at her evolving vocal capabilities and artistic depth.

The special was filmed in a picturesque Los Angeles setting: the former residence of legendary singer Frank Sinatra. This historic property holds significant cultural weight and serves as the exact same location where the official “Flowers” music video was shot. The visual presentation is striking, as the natural, sun-drenched outdoor environment provides a sharp, aesthetic contrast to the high-fashion vintage wardrobe worn by the singer throughout the performance. During the concert, Cyrus showcases a variety of exclusive archive pieces from renowned fashion houses, including Gucci, Versace, Maison Margiela, and Yves Saint Laurent, blending cinematic production with a personal, artistic touch that highlights her unique style.

Accompanied by a live backing band, Cyrus presents an organic, stripped-down version of the song that emphasizes her raspy, rock-inflected vocals over the polished, disco-pop production of the studio track. This approach directly pays homage to the “Backyard Sessions” tradition she first launched on YouTube in 2012, which originally gained widespread attention through acoustic covers of classics like Dolly Parton’s “Jolene.” Many observers and fans have noted that the live engineering and raw delivery highlight her skills as a powerhouse entertainer, with some suggesting that the live performance is even superior to the studio work, urging her to continue performing in this live-focused, acoustic-leaning style to showcase her natural vocal mastery.
