Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman performing ‘Time To Say Goodbye’ is absolutely heavenly

Sarah Brightman sought out Andrea Bocelli after encountering his recording of “Con te partirò” during dinner at a restaurant. The pair subsequently recorded a duet version, altering the lyrics and naming it “Time To Say Goodbye.” Members of the London Symphony Orchestra accompanied them for that recording.

Their collaboration is represented by performances from two different years. In 2007, Brightman and Bocelli sang the duet live in Italy at the Teatro Del Silenzio. By then, however, the two singers had already shared the piece in public more than a decade earlier.

That prior appearance occurred in November 1996, when they were asked to perform “Time To Say Goodbye (Con Te Partirò)” for the farewell contest honoring German World Light-Heavyweight boxing champion Henry Maske. Videos preserve both this original duet and the later Teatro Del Silenzio performance.
