Prince Philip’s brutal nickname for Meghan Markle revealed

Prince Philip reportedly had a sharp nickname for the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, drawing a parallel to Wallis Simpson, the American divorcée whose marriage to King Edward VIII led to his abdication. According to a royal expert, Prince Philip allegedly referred to Meghan with a nickname that highlighted this connection.

Wallis Simpson, who became the Duchess of Windsor, was a significant figure in royal history. Her marriage to King Edward VIII in 1937 caused a major scandal, leading Edward to abdicate the throne after less than a year. At the time, royals were prohibited from marrying divorced individuals, a rule that was not changed until 2002. This made Wallis Simpson one of the most controversial figures in royal history.

Following their marriage, Edward and Wallis were effectively exiled and not permitted to return to England without the permission of King George VI, Edward’s brother. Their years in exile were marked by constant media attention, including a notorious visit to Nazi Germany in 1937, where they were photographed giving the Nazi salute upon meeting Adolf Hitler.

In a recent interview with GB News, royal biographer Ingrid Seward revealed that Prince Philip perceived similarities between Meghan and Wallis Simpson. Seward suggested that Philip, known for his keen judgment of character, referred to Meghan as the “Duchess of Windsor” or “DOW” privately. He believed that Meghan and Prince Harry’s situation echoed that of Edward and Wallis, hinting at potential disruptions to the royal family.

In her book, My Mother and I, Seward further elaborates on Prince Philip’s concerns about Meghan, describing him as “wary” of her influence on the royal family. Despite Philip’s reservations, Queen Elizabeth II had “high hopes” for Meghan, indicating a difference in opinion within the royal family.

Since stepping back from their royal duties in 2020 and relocating to California, Meghan and Harry have kept a relatively low profile. Harry is set to visit the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, while Meghan is expected to stay in the US, citing safety concerns and a desire to avoid controversy.

Despite occasional returns to the UK for significant events, such as Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in 2022, Meghan has chosen not to attend others, including King Charles III’s coronation, which Harry attended alone. This decision underscores Meghan’s priority of maintaining her safety and peace amidst ongoing public scrutiny and interest in her relationship with the royal family.
