Why Is Prince Harry’s Ex, Cressida Bonas, Still Close to the Royal Family?

Prince Harry’s life in the United States with his wife, Meghan Markle, is quite different from that of his cousins, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who remain closely tied to the royal family. Despite the geographical distance and ongoing family tensions, Harry and Eugenie have maintained a strong bond. According to a family insider, “They’re still the best of friends and talk constantly.”

Meanwhile, Cressida Bonas, a model and actress who once dated Prince Harry, has forged her own path separate from the royal life. After their relationship ended, Bonas focused on her career, securing a significant role as the face of Mulberry just eight months after their breakup. Her connections to royalty and aristocracy, including her mother, Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon, and father, Jeffrey Bonas, have kept her within elite circles.

Introduced by Princess Eugenie in 2012, Bonas and Harry’s romance unfolded against the backdrop of royal duties and public attention. Harry recalls their first encounter as awkward, and their early dates were filled with the pressures of public scrutiny. Despite the challenges, their relationship deepened, with Harry even opening up to Bonas about his late mother, Princess Diana, for the first time.

However, the spotlight and the demands of royal life ultimately led to the end of their relationship in 2014. Despite their split, Bonas remained close to the royal family, even attending Harry’s wedding to Meghan Markle in May 2018. Her enduring friendship with Princess Eugenie is evident, as they continue to attend events together and support each other’s endeavors.

Bonas eventually married Harry Wentworth-Stanley, a connection to the royal family through his stepfather, the Marquess of Milford Haven. Their wedding in July 2020 was a modest affair due to pandemic restrictions, yet it marked a significant new chapter in Bonas’s life.

Bonas has also attended other royal events, such as Princess Eugenie’s wedding to Jack Brooksbank in October 2018. Her continued presence at such occasions underscores the lasting relationships she has maintained within the royal circle, particularly with Princess Eugenie.

In November 2023, Bonas showed her support for Princess Eugenie at The Anti-Slavery Collective’s inaugural Winter Gala, further demonstrating the depth of their friendship. Bonas’s enduring ties to the Royal Family, especially with Princess Eugenie, go beyond her past romance with Prince Harry and reflect a bond built on mutual respect and genuine friendship.
