16-Pound Giant Baby Made Headlines In 1983, But Wait Till You See Him Today

In 1983, 24-year-old Patricia Clarke knew she was carrying a large baby, but she had no idea just how big. Coming from a family where big babies were common, Patricia had some expectations, but what she experienced was beyond what anyone could predict.

When she gave birth to Kevin Robert Clarke, the baby weighed an astonishing 16 pounds, making him not only the largest baby born at Community Memorial Hospital but possibly the biggest baby in the state of New Jersey at the time.

Kevin’s size posed immediate challenges. He couldn’t fit into a standard crib, and typical baby clothes were too small for him. Fortunately, despite his remarkable size, he was perfectly healthy, much to the relief of his parents.

It wasn’t long before Kevin’s size gained attention, and he made headlines nationwide. His unique birth even inspired a segment on “Saturday Night Live” and was mentioned on “Good Morning America,” bringing even more attention to the extraordinary newborn.

Kevin continued to make an impression as he grew. By the time he was 12 years old, he already stood 5 foot 7. By junior high, he had reached an impressive height of 6 foot 5, and he just kept growing.

“There isn’t a day that goes by when someone doesn’t ask me how tall I am,” Kevin shared with the New York Post. He lightheartedly added, “I like to joke that I’m 5-foot-21. When people ask if I play basketball, I ask them if they play miniature golf.”

Today, Kevin is 35 years old and stands at an incredible 6 feet 9 inches tall. A former military man, he now lives with his 6-foot-tall wife and their Great Dane. He’s long since embraced his height and has learned to take it in stride.

Despite his extraordinary size, Kevin has found humor and confidence in the uniqueness of his stature, living a life that defies expectations.
