“Mom is the woman who loves and cares”: A woman adopts the baby of her husband’s late ex-wife!

The story of Christie and Wesley Werts is a moving example of how love, strength, and family can change lives. Their journey to bring Levi home shows both the good and bad sides of adoption. Christie and Wesley knew they had to become Levi’s family as soon as they heard about his sad situation: he was born early, lost his parents, and wasn’t getting any care.

Christie’s special bond with Levi was especially deep. She really knew what it was like to need stability and love because she had been in foster care herself. Interestingly, she had dreams of a baby boy with blonde hair and blue eyes before she knew about Levi. When they met him for the first time, her dreams came true. This emotional moment made her even more sure that Levi was meant to be a part of their family.

But it wasn’t easy to get adopted. They sold their home in Ohio because the law was complicated and they had to move to Texas. The next 16 months were a jumble of court hearings and interviews. Even though there were times of doubt and criticism from others, the Werts family stayed strong and wrote their story online. Many people supported them on their journey and shared their hope that they could find Levi a permanent home.
