Shania Twain catches heat for blonde look at awards show

The 2024 People’s Choice Country Music Awards, hosted by Shania Twain, elicited conflicting responses.

It is not surprising that Shania was selected to present the awards because she is a worldwide icon whose appeal has endured for decades. Her career, which included hits like Man! I Feel Like a Woman! and others, earned her the recognition.

Although Shania received a lot of attention, not always for the reasons she might have wanted, the event, which took place on September 26 at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry House, was well attended.

Shania wore a variety of ensembles during the evening, including a strapless corset top with a satin miniskirt underneath a black cloak, a white fringe suit with a cowboy hat, and a sparkling crimson gown that was praised by the event’s official Twitter account. She looked amazing in every outfit at the age of fifty-nine.

But not everybody was in agreement. Online critics pointed out Shania’s blond hair and said she didn’t look like herself anymore. Others commented, “Yikes, that doesn’t suit her,” and “She’s not recognizable now; too sad,” while one Instagram user wrote, “Totally ruined her looks.” Some even suggested that she go back to having brunette hair.

Additionally, Shania’s all-denim red carpet ensemble drew mixed reviews. Many fans, however, expressed their support, with one describing her appearance as “impressive” and others complimenting it with remarks like “looking like a beautiful Barbie doll” and “You look fantastic, my queen.”
