California earthquake: Tsunami warning canceled after 7.0-magnitude quake

A tsunami warning was briefly issued for the coasts of northern California and southern Oregon on Thursday morning after a 7.0-magnitude earthquake occurred off the coast of California.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the earthquake started roughly 62 miles west of Ferndale, California, and happened at around 10:44 a.m.

The coastal regions from Davenport, California, to the boundary between Douglas and Lane counties in Oregon were under a tsunami warning. Around 11:55 a.m., the Tsunami Warning Center canceled the warning.

About 10,000 people lost power in Humboldt County, which is the area on land nearest to the epicenter, but there were no reported fatalities or injuries.
