The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned of severe winter weather in 12 states, such as Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania. The weather will be dangerous to travel in because of snow, ice, and strong winds.
From Thursday night to Saturday morning, a Winter Storm Warning is in effect for parts of East Arkansas, North Mississippi, and other places. Between 4 and 6 inches of snow and ice are expected. West Virginia may have wind chills as low as -15°F and gusts as high as 50 mph. Travel is dangerous, especially on bridges and overpasses.
People are told to put off trips if they can, bring emergency kits, and check the weather report often. The effects of the storm could last until Saturday morning. To avoid frostbite or hypothermia, it is important to take precautions like wearing warm layers.
