Body language expert breaks down Donalf Trump’s failed Melania kiss

The inauguration of Donald Trump for his second term as President of the United States was bound to ignite discussions, debates, and viral moments. On January 20, 2025, the world watched as Trump took the oath of office, signaling the beginning of a new chapter in U.S. history. As with any high-profile event, the day was marked by speculation, notable incidents, and public reactions—one of which centered on a seemingly awkward moment between Donald and Melania Trump.

As is customary, the inauguration began with a church service, symbolizing the transition of power and the start of the new administration. During their arrival, cameras captured a moment between Donald and Melania that sparked widespread discussion. As Trump leaned in to kiss his wife, Melania subtly turned her face, redirecting the gesture to her cheek rather than her lips. The interaction, though brief, quickly became a focal point for online discourse, with some interpreting it as a deliberate snub and others brushing it off as coincidental.

Body language expert Judi James weighed in on the exchange, offering insights into the couple’s public demeanor. James described Trump’s approach to the event as “slow and alpha,” accompanied by a “mouth shrug smile” that signaled a serious tone for his speech and the responsibilities of his second term. When Trump reached Melania, James observed that he tenderly took her hand in what resembled a romantic gesture, likening it to a moment one might see during a wedding ceremony. However, the subsequent kiss—or lack thereof—added an element of intrigue. James noted, “Melania leaned towards her husband to reciprocate but also turned her face to instigate a cheek kiss rather than the mouth variety.

This subtle misalignment, which James called a “heart-stopping moment,” was interpreted by some as a sign of a lack of synchronicity between the couple. Yet, for others, it was a fleeting and inconsequential gesture, blown out of proportion by public scrutiny.

Melania’s attire was another point of contention during the inauguration. Her choice of a dark boater hat that cast shadows over her face, paired with a high-necked outfit, drew mixed reactions online. While some appreciated the elegance and sophistication of her ensemble, others criticized it for being too somber for the celebratory occasion. Social media users labeled her look as “Dark Maga” and compared it to that of a “mob wife at a funeral.” Despite the critiques, the First Lady’s fashion choices remained consistent with her signature style—bold, deliberate, and open to interpretation.

Rumors surrounding Melania’s role during Trump’s second term have continued to circulate. Speculation suggests that she may not reside full-time at the White House, opting instead to split her time between Washington, D.C., and New York City, where the couple’s son, Barron, is currently studying. While Melania has yet to confirm her exact plans, her dedication to supporting her son and maintaining her independence has been a recurring theme in public discussions about her role as First Lady.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump’s inauguration speech was as ambitious and assertive as expected, packed with promises that aligned with his campaign rhetoric. Among his bold declarations, Trump pledged to tackle immigration issues head-on, vowing to implement the largest deportation program in U.S. history. “I will rescue every city and town that has been invaded and conquered, and we will put these vicious and bloodthirsty criminals in jail, then kick them the hell out of our country as fast as possible,” he declared.

Trump also promised to declassify hidden government files, including those related to the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King Jr., and hinted at potential pardons for individuals involved in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riots. Additionally, he expressed a desire to eliminate birthright citizenship—a move that would face significant constitutional challenges—and pledged to cut federal funding for schools teaching what he deemed “inappropriate” topics, such as critical race theory and transgender issues.

“On day one, I will sign a new executive order to cut federal funding for any school pushing critical race theory [and] transgender insanity,” Trump stated, reiterating his commitment to reshaping federal education policies.

As Trump embarks on his second term, opinions about his presidency remain as polarized as ever. Supporters are optimistic about his ability to deliver on his promises and effect change, while critics remain skeptical about his policies and leadership style.
