‘Huge’ Bruise on Donald Trump’s Hand Sparks Health Concerns

The White House has finally addressed the reason behind the noticeable bruise on President Donald Trump’s hand, which had sparked widespread speculation online. At 78 years old, Trump has yet to release his full medical records, leaving many questioning his health.

During his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on February 24, 2025, sharp-eyed observers noticed a large discoloration on the back of Trump’s right hand. Images from the event quickly spread across social media, fueling concerns about his well-being.

“Scrolling Getty and couldn’t help but notice this photo of a huge bruise on Trump’s hand today,” one user remarked. Another echoed the sentiment, asking bluntly, “Are you OK?????”

Theories about the cause of the bruise flooded in. Some suggested it was simply due to “thin blood and easy bruising,” while others speculated about a potential golf injury or even an IV drip. One concerned individual wrote, “God save him.”

Adding to the mystery, photos from previous months suggested that Trump may have had this bruise for quite some time. “He must have had this same bruise for quite a while… like weeks,” one person observed, pointing to older pictures. “The fact it’s still there is really concerning… what’s up with his health?”

Despite the mounting questions, the White House swiftly dismissed concerns. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt stated, “President Trump is a man of the people. His commitment is unwavering, and he proves that every single day. The bruises on his hand are simply from shaking hands constantly.”

Trump himself had previously attributed similar bruising to his rigorous schedule. In a December 2024 interview with Time magazine, he insisted that the marks were the result of greeting thousands of people.

However, wire service photos show that Trump’s right hand had visible bruising on at least two other occasions—in August and November of 2024. Yet, he has not publicly addressed the latest instance directly.

His reluctance to release updated medical records has only fueled further speculation. During a December 2024 interview with NBC, Trump claimed he would make his full medical report public. Months later, no such report has surfaced.

During the 2024 campaign, a group of doctors analyzed Trump’s public appearances and voiced concerns over his fitness for office. They wrote in a report, “Trump is falling concerningly short of any standard of fitness for office and displaying alarming characteristics of declining acuity.”

While aging alone is not necessarily an indicator of cognitive decline, medical experts noted that individuals approaching 80 may experience changes in their ability to navigate complex situations.

The last time Trump’s medical status was publicly documented was in 2023. His personal physician, Dr. Bruce Aronwald, declared at the time that Trump’s “physical exams were within normal range and his cognitive exams were exceptional.” The report also noted that Trump had lost weight due to improved diet and exercise.

“It is my opinion that President Trump is currently in excellent health,” Dr. Aronwald stated. “With his continued interest in preventative health monitoring and maintenance, he will enjoy a healthy, active lifestyle for years to come.”

However, with more than a year having passed since that report, and no new medical records released, concerns persist. While presidential candidates often disclose their health information, no law requires them to do so.

Jeff Gulati, a political science professor, pointed out that Trump has now avoided releasing medical records in two consecutive elections without consequence. “There’s no real incentive for him to change course now,” he said.

Now serving as the 47th U.S. president, Trump will be the oldest to ever hold the office by the end of his term. At 78 years old, he is already among the oldest presidents in American history, intensifying public curiosity about his health.

For now, speculation about Trump’s bruise may continue, but one thing is clear—until he provides full medical transparency, questions about his well-being won’t be going away anytime soon.
