HORRIFIC THE LITTLE GIRL WAS FOUND DIVIDED. AND IT WAS HER MOTHER WHO FOUND HER… SEE MORE

— April 17, 2025, Mexico City After 12-year-old Sofía Delgado vanished 48 hours ago, a family and the entire community are in a state of anguish and uncertainty. Last Monday, the minor was last seen leaving her high school in the Benito Juárez borough’s Del Valle neighborhood.

Since then, she has not been contacted, and authorities, her parents, friends, and family are conducting a thorough search that has not yet produced any conclusive findings.

Sofía left school at 2:30 p.m., as she always did, and went home, which is a few blocks away, according to her mother, María Teresa Ruiz. But she never showed up. We speculated that she might have been spending time with a friend, but hours went by and we were left in the dark. Since then, she has not used her cell phone. She doesn’t return calls, messages, or anything else. Through tears, her mother remarked, “It feels like the earth has engulfed her.”

The Amber Alert has already been activated and a file containing the minor’s details has been made public by the Mexico City Attorney General’s Office:

  • Full name: Delgado Ruiz, Sofía
  • Twelve years old
  • 1.45 meters in height
  • Build: slender
  • Hair: long, straight, and dark brown
  • She was dressed in her school uniform, which included a navy blue sweater, white blouse, and gray skirt.

By sharing Sofía’s photo on social media, posting posters in the neighborhood, and handing out flyers, neighbors and acquaintances have joined the search. Although authorities have not yet verified this account, some witnesses say they saw her walking alone in the direction of the División del Norte metro station.

There has been a significant social outcry over the case, and many online users have shown their support by using the hashtag #BuscandoASofía, which is currently trending across the country. Similar to this, a number of civil organizations that are involved in the tracing process have joined the case to provide search teams, drones, and legal counsel.

In the meantime, the family is begging for any information that could help them find out where their daughter is. “All we want is for her to return safely, if anyone has her or knows anything. She has never left home and is a contented and industrious young woman. Her father, Carlos Delgado, was clearly shaken when he said, “We don’t understand what happened.”
