Story 1 My twin sister started experiencing strange cardiac problems at the age of 32 and needed to consult several specialists. Naturally, a lot of questions about family history are asked during doctor’s appointments like this.
At that point, my mother made the decision to tell us that our parents had been hiding the fact that we were conceived through artificial insemination from us all along. She had no knowledge of our biological father’s medical background.
I was completely caught off guard. The following week was filled with strange feelings and a peculiar existential crisis. Although it hasn’t been a huge deal since and is the subject of many of our current jokes, learning about it as an adult was strange. © Reddit
Story 2
A motorcycle accident claimed the life of one of my cousins. Loving dad of 2. His bereaved widow was unable to access emails and photos, so I was asked to check his computer.
I discovered that he was communicating with his mistress via a hidden email account. Five days after his passing, his email was flooded with “Are you okay? “What’s happening?” messages. She didn’t know he was dead.
I then sent her an email outlining the situation and including a link to the newspaper article and obituary. Despite attending the funeral, she remained silent. She identified herself as a colleague. In order to preserve this man’s memory for his wife and children, I deleted all evidence from the computer before returning it to the widow. © Reddit/NocturnalCoder
Story 3: After graduating from high school, my dad began working overseas. Instead of spending any money, he simply sent it all back to his mother to be kept for himself or to use in case of an emergency. After using the funds to pay her bills, she sold their farm and made a sizable profit.
Now fast-forward a few years. My mom’s father married her. My younger brother was born with respiratory problems.

For more than a year, I was engaged. This stunning outdoor wedding was something we were organizing. A month prior to the big day, we split up. Tragic.
Except for the venue, which is non-refundable, I canceled everything. Although she couldn’t afford a wedding, my younger sister was also secretly engaged. Half-jokingly, she asked if they could use my setup. I tried to be mature and said yes, but it was painful.
I saw her make her way down the path I had planned for the day. The playlist—mine—the flowers, the decorations, everything. It was praised as beautiful by all. I grinned. Then in the parking lot, I sobbed.
Story 6: My mom’s sister, my grandmother’s eldest daughter, has always been cruel to her. She was always criticizing and demeaning her. Even as a child, I believed that she was treating her cruelly and without cause. I simply assumed she gave her kids a lot of preferential treatment.
My aunt was conceived out of wedlock by my grandmother before she met and married my grandfather, I found out when I was around 20. Because she disliked being reminded of that aspect of her past, she was cruel to her.

A few years ago, my in-laws lost their lives in a car accident. I discovered several of my late mother-in-law’s journals while I was assisting my wife with cleaning out their home. In addition to her suspicion that my wife’s sister was the result of one affair, they contained information about her extramarital affairs during her time with both of her husbands.

My stepfather was falsely claimed to be my father by my mother. She didn’t tell him the truth until they split up when I was thirteen, with the intention of hurting him. She wanted to take away what he loved most, his baby girl, because he had cheated. It was extremely self-centered and cruel.
I finally got to meet my biological father when I was 33. He informed me that he had always paid child support for me and that my mother had intentionally gotten pregnant in an attempt to keep him. My mother refused to respond, deny it, or meet my gaze when I confronted her. © Reddit/prettyone_85

My dad has a secret family, which I learned about from the brother of my mother’s friend. He has a completely new family that he has never met, and it seems that he cheated on my mother several times with other women a few years ago. This is not supposed to be known to any of us.
I have six siblings—seven total—and it seems like there are even more. I’m not sure if I’ve seen them at work or on the street, or if I need to run background checks on any potential romantic partners in case they’re siblings. So, thank you, Dad. © Reddit/Fabulous-Dark
Narrative 10
I didn’t know the name of the person who contacted me through a DNA service and claimed to be my first cousin. As it happens, my aunt placed this cousin for adoption at birth years ago. My mother was the only person my aunt had confided in, and she only told me after I began researching our relationship.

In 2001, my father vanished. We believed he was dead. In 2022, we used a DNA test to find him and found that he had three, possibly four, families at the same time.
He was married to someone else and had given my mother a false name. He divorced, remarried, and had two children abroad while living with my mother. We had no suspicions at all.
He claimed to be working when I was born, so he wasn’t present. He never helped, and he also kept forgetting my name. © Reddit/Immediate-Sugar-2316
