Shridevi Basbaraj Chauhan

There is a tragic story about a 14-year-old Pune girl who was discovered hanging in a New Delhi apartment. Pune City Police claim that she was taken there by a wealthy family without her mother’s express permission.

The deceased, identified as Chandanagar, Pune resident Shridevi Basbaraj Chauhan, was employed at a high-end residential complex in Vadgaon Sheri as a childcare provider for two children. In this regard, an accidental death case has been filed at the Vivek Vihar police station in New Delhi.

For roughly a month and a half, Shridevi worked at a nursing home in Brahma Sun City, where she cared for two children, ages three and seven, according to a Vivek Vihar police officer who spoke to the Pune Times Mirror. She was taken to Delhi by her family on June 16 and discovered hanging on June 21. The circumstances surrounding her death are being looked into.

The correspondence between Shridevi and her mother before the incident is also being looked into by the authorities.

In the servants’ quarters of the owner’s Delhi home, Shridevi was discovered hanging. The Chandanagar Police Station in Pune made arrangements for her mother to travel to Delhi to finish the required procedures after receiving notification from the Delhi Police.

The Chauhan family, who were originally from Karnataka, included Shridevi’s mother, sister, and two brothers in a rented home close to Bramha Sun City. Two years ago, they relocated to Pune in pursuit of daily work.

Police in Pune ask for a comprehensive investigation.

Given the delicate nature of the case, Pune police have asked Delhi police to carry out a comprehensive investigation and autopsy, Senior Police Inspector Seema Dhakne confirmed to the Pune Times Mirror.

The incident took place in a domestic staff room on the ground floor. We await the results of the autopsy.

According to investigations, Shridevi’s sister didn’t know she was in Delhi. During a call the day before her death, the sister also reported that Shridevi appeared content as she talked about her trip and the care she received from her family.

According to police, hiring a 14-year-old girl as a caregiver is against the law regarding child labor.

According to Shridevi’s family, she was brought to Delhi against her mother’s wishes. Nonetheless, authorities in Pune have been notified by Delhi Police that no official complaint has been made.

For the last rites, Shridevi’s body is anticipated to be flown to Karnataka. Public indignation and demands for a more thorough examination of the working conditions of children in urban households have been triggered by the incident.

After the family returns to Vadgaon Sheri, Pune police will carry out the investigation further. In the meantime, authorities and child rights advocates are looking into potential infractions of the laws against human trafficking and child labor.
