11 People Were Stabbed at Walmart — But One Man with a Gun Stopped the Massacre

Michigan — July 27, 2025: Before one man took charge, what started out as a normal shopping day at a crowded Walmart swiftly turned into mayhem, terror, and violence.

Authorities claim that during a violent outburst at a Walmart store in Michigan, 11 people were stabbed. The suspect, whose name has not yet been made public, attacked customers and staff members as if at random.

Customers rushed for safety as panic broke out. However, one man chose not to flee in the midst of the fear.

Police say his actions probably saved many more lives. His name is Derrick Perry.

Derrick, who is authorized to carry a concealed weapon, pulled out his gun and went straight up to the suspect. According to witnesses, he gave explicit verbal orders and held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived and apprehended the assailant.

There were no gunshots. Derrick stepped in and there were no more injuries reported.

He didn’t think twice. He remained calm. One witness described Derrick’s bravery as “just acting.” “What a hero that man is.”

After treating several victims on the scene, emergency personnel took others to surrounding hospitals. Officials say the number of casualties could have been much higher, even though some are still in critical condition.

Perry’s bravery was commended by the local police, who said that his prompt action “almost certainly prevented further tragedy.”

The national dialogue about gun rights, self-defense, and what happens when regular people are the first line of defense has been rekindled by this incident.

Although he didn’t start out as a hero, Derrick Perry ended up becoming one.
