Tragedy on Rodovia do Sol: Young Couple Hit While Changing Tire by Allegedly Drunk Driver

A heartbreaking accident on Rodovia do Sol last week has left the local community stunned and mourning. The crash occurred when a young couple, who had pulled over to fix a flat tire, were struck by an oncoming vehicle.

Shocking Scene Unfolds

According to the Military Police, the couple had stopped their Chevrolet Cruze on the road’s shoulder. While they were attending to the issue, a Chevrolet S10 pickup came barreling toward them, hitting the parked vehicle.

Responding officers found a chaotic and distressing scene. The Fire Department was already assisting the victims when police arrived. Three individuals from the Cruze — including Ingrid and her brother — were transported to local hospitals with injuries.

Suspected Drunk Driving

Police noted that the S10’s driver showed clear signs of intoxication and was taken to the station for further investigation. However, by the time emergency teams reached the crash site, the driver had already fled, raising additional questions about accountability and impairment.

This devastating incident has intensified ongoing discussions around road safety and drunk driving laws in the region.
