‘Human Barbie’ influencer known for crazy surgeries dies at 31

Bárbara Jankavski, widely recognized online as the “Human Barbie,” has died at just 31 under circumstances now being investigated as suspicious. Known for documenting her dramatic transformation through more than two dozen cosmetic surgeries, Jankavski built a substantial digital presence under the name “Boneca Desumana,” sharing hyper-stylized looks and personal updates with her hundreds of thousands of followers.

Her death was confirmed on November 2 in São Paulo. When authorities arrived, they found her wearing only underwear and showing visible injuries to her left eye and back. The details surrounding her final night have raised serious questions.

According to a police report cited by CNN Brazil, Jankavski had been with 51-year-old public defender Renato Campos Pinto de Vitto, who acknowledged to investigators that he hired her for “sexual services.” He also stated that the two had consumed illicit substances together. He told police that at some point Jankavski stopped moving while “asleep,” prompting him to call for medical help.

Emergency responders attempted to guide him through CPR, but despite efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have classified the case as suspicious and are waiting for full autopsy and toxicology results to determine what was in her system and whether any outside force or negligence contributed to her death. A friend of De Vitto reportedly told authorities that the visible injuries came from a fall Jankavski suffered earlier that day, though investigators have emphasized that this explanation has not yet been verified.

Online, news of her passing spread quickly. Jankavski was known for her dramatic aesthetic — blonde hair, sculpted features, and carefully curated doll-like styling — along with openly discussing her 27 cosmetic surgeries and the identity she created through them. Her followers have filled her social media pages with tributes, expressing shock, grief, and disbelief that a figure they watched and interacted with daily is suddenly gone.

As investigators continue to review evidence and await test results, Jankavski’s death remains an open case. Many of her fans and supporters are now calling for transparency, justice, and dignity for the woman they felt they knew — beyond the filters, beyond the surgeries, beyond the persona.

For now, the unanswered questions continue to hang in the space she leaves behind.
