Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return to ABC on Tuesday night, less than a week after the host was suspended over remarks connected to the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. Disney — the parent company of ABC — confirmed the show’s return, noting that production had been temporarily paused “to avoid further inflaming an already tense and emotional moment for the country.”
Kimmel drew criticism after suggesting that “the MAGA gang” was attempting to portray the suspect in Kirk’s death “as anything other than one of them.” The comments prompted backlash across social media and from political commentators, ultimately leading to ABC’s decision to suspend the program for several days.
In a brief statement, Disney said the pause was implemented because “some comments were ill-timed and insensitive,” adding that the company had engaged in several days of discussions with Kimmel. The network did not provide additional details about the conversations or any potential conditions tied to the show’s return.
ABC confirmed that Jimmy Kimmel Live! will resume its regular broadcast schedule starting Tuesday.
