Dhani Harrison Joined Jeff Lynne and Joe Walsh for a Moving George Harrison Tribute

When Dhani Harrison stepped onto the stage beside Jeff Lynne and Joe Walsh, the tribute carried a meaning that went far beyond an all-star lineup. The three musicians performed George Harrison’s celebrated Beatles ballad “Something” during The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute to the Beatles, held in Los Angeles in 2014 to mark 50 years since the band’s first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show.

Dhani shared the lead with Lynne while Walsh handled the song’s distinctive guitar moment with care. The performance became especially moving because Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were watching from the front row and could be seen singing along. It was a rare scene: two surviving Beatles witnessing George’s son help carry one of his father’s best-known compositions into a new generation.

The musical connection was personal as well as historical. Lynne had worked closely with George for years, including as a member of the Traveling Wilburys, and later helped Dhani complete George’s final album, Brainwashed. Walsh also belonged to the wider Beatles musical family through his long association with Ringo Starr. Together, the trio approached the tribute with warmth and restraint, allowing the melody and the family connection to remain at the center.
