Lady Gaga and Adele on “Million Reasons” and “Someone Like You” is the banger mashup we didn’t know we needed

Lady Gaga and Adele have yet to collaborate on an official recording, but Taiwanese producer Andy Wu offered an impressively convincing alternative. Wu combined Gaga’s country song “Million Reasons” with Adele’s piano ballad “Someone Like You,” creating a mashup that went on to attract 29 million YouTube views. Although the two singers come from distinct musical backgrounds, his production shows how readily the tracks can fit together.

The mashup initially uses the familiar piano introduction from “Someone Like You.” Instead of following it with Adele’s original vocal, Wu brings in Gaga singing “Million Reasons.” He then reverses the arrangement: the guitar progression from Gaga’s track takes over, accompanied by Adele’s vocal from “Someone Like You.” This structure allows both singers to appear within the instrumental framework of the other’s song.

Wu’s production makes the combination sound sufficiently natural that someone who had never encountered the original recordings might assume Gaga and Adele had genuinely recorded together. YouTube commenters celebrated the finished mix, praising its two vocal performances and the pairing of the songs. One viewer called the result glorious and wondered why anybody would dislike the video. Another described it as the melody’s best interpretation and applauded the union of two outstanding voices.

Fans have produced multiple mashups involving the pair, but Gaga and Adele had not made a real-life collaboration by the time Wu’s video was covered. Gaga has, however, performed “Million Reasons” live with her own group. A Nashville, Tennessee, rendition filmed during the Dive Bar Tour also became widely viewed, drawing 24 million plays.
