Young US champion Amber Glenn turns the Figure Skating world upside down with her supernatural solo routine

Amber Glenn, the 24-year-old American skating sensation, has captured global attention with a mesmerizing exhibition performance that has taken the internet by storm. Appearing at the Patriot Figure Skating Club’s 3rd Annual Ice Show, the reigning 2024 US National Champion delivered a routine that has accumulated over 1.2 million views on YouTube in less than a year. Having already secured her place in history as the first LGBT+ athlete to win the women’s US National title, Glenn utilized this non-competitive showcase to push the boundaries of her craft. Even though she had already proven her status as a champion, she chose this specific event to make a lasting impression on the skating world.

Set to the dramatic sounds of Olivia Rodrigo’s chart-topping hit ‘Vampire,’ the performance begins with an elegant display of gliding before shifting into a high-energy display of athleticism. As the song transitions into its powerful pop-rock chorus, Glenn mirrors the intensity of the music with a series of supernatural movements. Her choreography captures the ethereal tone of the track, blending atmospheric grace with explosive power that commands the entire rink. She moves with a dreamy quality that perfectly matches the lyrics before going into a full-scale, high-intensity performance when the beat drops.

The routine is notable for its inclusion of unconventional and daring maneuvers that defy traditional skating expectations. Glenn executes a flawless one-handed cartwheel across the ice and maintains incredible poise during a complex sequence of spins and jumps. Her technical range is on full display as she transitions between wide squats, one-legged rotations, and intricate pirouettes where she holds her foot in her hand, all while appearing entirely fearless. She arches her back with such dramatic flair that spectators might worry she would lose her balance, yet she remains in complete control throughout the entire sequence.
