Micky Dolenz makes epic comeback at 81 reviving The Monkees’ greatest hit in staggering new live performance as the band’s last living member

The performance also arrived during a milestone year for the band’s history. Dolenz is commemorating The Monkees’ 60th anniversary with a run of 25 dates across the United States. The tour carries the official name 60 Years Of The Monkees and gives the group’s last living member another opportunity to perform its material in newly presented sets.

More recordings from those concerts were expected to surface online during the following months. The Church Studio video had already inspired nearly 700 responses in its YouTube comment section, where viewers repeatedly remarked on Dolenz’s continued work and his sound at 81.

Some commenters said they were pleased to see him remaining active and contended that The Monkees had been undervalued as musicians. Others praised the quality of his singing, while another response highlighted Dolenz playing and performing familiar songs simply for the enjoyment of doing so at any age. Those reactions accompanied a Church Studio interpretation that the source presented as evidence that his energy and performing ability remained intact.
