Beloved Hollywood actress dies aged 95 as she’s killed in LA wildfires

Hollywood star Dalyce Curry, a beloved figure from Hollywood’s Golden Age, has tragically been found dead at her Los Angeles home after it was destroyed by the wildfires sweeping across the county. The 95-year-old retired actress’s remains were discovered at her Altadena residence in northeast Los Angeles on Sunday, January 12, around 6 p.m.

Curry’s family had reported her missing after she failed to arrive at an evacuation point, sparking fears for her safety. Sadly, those fears were confirmed when authorities located her remains amid the ruins of her home, which had succumbed to the relentless flames. The news has devastated her family, fans, and the local community.

Her family released a heartfelt statement expressing their grief:
“We are heartbroken beyond words at the loss of our beloved Dalyce. She was a shining light in our lives and brought joy and inspiration to so many through her work and her kindness. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.”

Curry’s career was a defining chapter in Hollywood’s Golden Age. Known for her elegance, charm, and remarkable acting talent, she graced the silver screen in numerous acclaimed films during the 1940s and 1950s. Her collaborations with Hollywood icons and her memorable performances made her a household name. Though she retired from acting in the 1970s, her contributions to the entertainment industry continued to be celebrated.

In addition to her illustrious career, Curry was known for her strong ties to the Altadena community. Neighbors and fans remember her as a warm, generous, and approachable figure who remained grounded despite her fame. She often participated in local arts events and took great pride in supporting aspiring artists.

The wildfires that claimed Curry’s life have ravaged over 40,000 acres in Los Angeles County, leaving behind a path of destruction. Officials have reported at least 24 fatalities so far, with thousands of residents displaced from their homes. Altadena, Curry’s longtime home, has been one of the hardest-hit areas.

Los Angeles County Fire Chief Anthony Marrone extended his condolences to Curry’s family and others who have suffered losses in this tragedy. He stated:
“Our thoughts are with all the families affected by these devastating fires. We are doing everything we can to support the community and bring this disaster under control.”

As news of Curry’s death spread, tributes poured in from fans, friends, and former colleagues. Many took to social media to honor her memory, sharing stories of her generosity and reflecting on her impact as an actress and as a person. Film historian Margaret Turner wrote:
“Dalyce Curry was more than a star; she was a beacon of grace and dignity. Her performances touched hearts, and her kindness off-screen left a lasting impression. She will be deeply missed.”

Curry’s passing is a profound loss, not only to her family and friends but also to the film industry and the countless fans who admired her work. Her life and career stand as a testament to the enduring power of storytelling and the human connection that art can create.
