Former Bee Gees Drummer Colin Petersen Passes Away at 78
Colin Petersen, the former drummer of the Bee Gees, has passed away at the age of 78. His death was announced on November 18 through a post shared on Facebook.
Petersen, who played a vital role in shaping the early sound of the Bee Gees during the 1960s, was more than just a drummer — he was a key creative collaborator during the band’s formative years. His steady rhythm and artistic instincts helped define hits that propelled the Bee Gees toward global fame.
Born in Australia, Petersen joined the Gibb brothers in 1967 and contributed to several of their classic recordings before parting ways with the group in the early 1970s. Despite moving on to other ventures, he remained a respected figure in the music industry and among Bee Gees fans worldwide.
Tributes have poured in across social media, with fans and fellow musicians remembering him for his talent, warmth, and quiet influence on one of the greatest pop groups in history.
Petersen’s passing marks the end of another chapter in the Bee Gees’ remarkable legacy — a reminder of the enduring power of music and the people who helped bring it to life.
