Princess Kate reveals she is done with chemotherapy, “cancer-free” in new statement

Catherine, Princess of Wales, has been on the minds of many over the past few months following her announcement of a cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatments. Today, she shared an uplifting update: she has completed her chemotherapy and is now “cancer-free.”

In a statement from Kensington Palace, Princess Kate expressed her relief: “As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment,” she said. Reflecting on the past nine months, she shared, “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant, and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”

She touched on the emotional and mental challenges of the journey, explaining that, “The cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you. With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”

While she plans to gradually resume her public duties, Catherine emphasized that her main focus will remain on her health and staying cancer-free: “My path to healing and full recovery is long, and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” she wrote.

Gratitude was a major theme in her statement, as she thanked those who have supported her along the way: “William and I are so grateful for the support we have received and have drawn great strength from all those who are helping us at this time. Everyone’s kindness, empathy, and compassion has been truly humbling.”

Catherine also extended her solidarity to others facing cancer: “To all those who are continuing their own cancer journey – I remain with you, side by side, hand in hand. Out of darkness, can come light, so let that light shine bright.”

This news offers a rare moment of hope for the British royal family, who have faced a difficult year, including King Charles III’s own cancer diagnosis. Charles, who revealed his diagnosis in February, resumed his public duties in the spring.

However, Catherine’s battle with cancer has garnered even more public attention. In January, rumors began circulating about her health after she underwent an abdominal surgery and remained absent from public appearances. Speculation grew when a Mother’s Day photo of Kate and her children appeared to be edited, leading to a media frenzy dubbed “Kate-Gate.” In March, Catherine addressed the rumors with a video message, confirming her cancer diagnosis and chemotherapy treatment.

In June, Catherine issued another statement saying she wasn’t “out of the woods yet,” but intended to begin returning to her public engagements.

Now, with chemotherapy behind her, the news of her recovery brings relief and joy to her supporters worldwide.
