Woman Dies In Head-On Collision But When They Took Her Phone And Saw Her Facebook Page They Were Speechless

A tragic accident claimed the life of a 32-year-old woman in a head-on collision shortly after she updated her status and posted selfies on Facebook. Courtney Sanford shared a post reading, “The happy song makes me so HAPPY” at 8:33 AM on a Thursday morning, just moments before the crash. At 8:34 AM, police were notified of the fatal incident.

Sanford was driving alone on Interstate 85 in North Carolina when her car veered across the center reservation and collided with a recycling truck. The impact caused her vehicle to catch fire, while the truck, driven by 73-year-old John Wallace Thompson, was forced off the road. Fortunately, Thompson emerged from the crash unscathed. Authorities ruled out speed, drugs, or alcohol as factors in the accident.

Friends of Sanford, who noticed her Facebook post shortly before the crash, brought it to the attention of the police. Lieutenant Chris Weisner of the High Point Police Department used the incident as a stark reminder of the dangers of distracted driving, emphasizing that it could serve as “a real-life public service announcement.”

“In just a matter of seconds, a life was over simply because she wanted to let her friends know she was happy. It’s truly not worth it,” Weisner stressed. “When you’re driving, you need to focus on the road and nothing else.”

This heartbreaking story highlights the dangers of using social media while behind the wheel. It serves as a reminder to always prioritize safety over distractions when driving.
