Volunteers embarked on an animal rescue they weren’t sure would succeed after a startling discovery at an English construction site.

After receiving a call from a member of the public, British Horse Society volunteers made a sobering discovery.

The East Durham construction site appeared to have been abandoned, with trash and debris all over the place. They initially believed they had discovered a dead horse lying in the mud.
