I was deep in thought one night when a man came up to me and asked if I was scared to go out at night by myself. He insisted on walking me home after I said no. Despite my dismissiveness, I remained silent. I told him I had a baby when he asked why I was in such a rush. When he asked if I gave him my own milk or cow’s milk, I said that I gave him cow’s milk. Then, claiming that fresh milk from the countryside was superior to store-bought, he offered to deliver it. He remained silent when I asked how much it would cost. He left a jar of milk on my doorstep the following morning, and this kept happening for three months. Not even for a cup of tea did he ever come inside my house. I eventually got a job at a magazine and was paid in advance, but when I woke up the following morning, my doorstep was empty of milk.
