Donald Trump faces backlash over ‘disrespectful’ gesture at Pope Francis’ funeral

As hundreds of thousands of people, including world leaders, gathered to bid farewell to Pope Francis, the first pope of Latin America and the man who had a lasting impact on the Catholic church, Rome briefly became the center of the world.

As expected, among those who attended the funeral and paid their respects were US President Donald Trump and his wife, Melania.

Trump enraged many with a remark he made about Pope Francis’s impending funeral before leaving for Rome.

Trump enraged many with a remark he made about Pope Francis’s impending funeral before leaving for Rome.

Trump has faced criticism for more reasons than just his remark, which many have called inappropriate.

As they passed Pope Francis’ coffin, the couple was observed stopping to show their respects.

However, Trump “stuck out like a sore thumb” due to his suit choice once all of the leaders were arranged in rows and dressed in dark clothing.

He chose a blue suit, while everyone else wore black ones, for some reason.

Many people used social media to voice their opinions, claiming that the US president was disrespectful to the pope by attempting to pay attention and lacked class.

Someone questioned, “Is there a reason Donald Trump is wearing a blue suit instead of the customary black for a funeral?”

“I notice that Trump is wearing a blue suit to the Pope’s funeral so that he stands out,” another person continued. “T**ser!”

“Watching the funeral on BBC News,” added a third. While everyone else is dressed in black, Trump is wearing a blue suit. No class.

“Why is Trump wearing a blue suit while everyone else is wearing black?” asked a fourth commenter. No deference.
