Random acts of violence seem to be on the rise, with even everyday locations like Walmart in Windsor, Connecticut, becoming scenes of concern. Cheryl and Mel Johnson discovered this firsthand during a late-night shopping trip when Mel cut his hand on a razor blade hidden in the cart handle.

Alerted to the danger, the couple quickly informed the store manager and the police. A thorough check of all carts in the store was conducted but, fortunately, “no other ones were found.”

Police are considering two possible explanations. The first is that it was a malicious prank. The second theory, according to Walmart Inc., suggests “shoplifters might be using razors to cut security tags and remain unnoticed by security cameras.”

This isn’t a first; similar incidents have occurred before, raising fears about potential accidents involving children or rusted blades. “Considering that kids often steer carts for their parents, it could have happened to them too.”

With such incidents becoming more frequent, remaining vigilant during everyday activities like shopping is increasingly important.
