The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner has updated the online record for the late actor Matthew Perry, listing the cause of death as “deferred.” This designation is used when the cause of death cannot be determined at the time of the autopsy, pending further investigation and studies.
Although the autopsy on Matthew Perry has been completed, the coroner is awaiting the results of a toxicology report to determine if any substances, including drugs, played a role in his untimely demise.
While the Los Angeles Police Department is actively investigating the circumstances surrounding Perry’s death, sources close to the case have indicated that foul play is not suspected.
Law enforcement sources reported that Perry was found unresponsive in a hot tub, and the initial call to 911 requested a water rescue. The LAPD promptly responded and categorized the call as a death investigation.
In his 2022 memoir, “Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing,” Matthew Perry candidly shared his struggles with addiction, including his use of Vicodin and other substances. His words reflect the complexity of his life journey.
Matthew Perry will be remembered as a talented actor who brought joy to many. May he rest in peace.
