Monica Crowley Confirmed By Senate For Key State Dept Ambassadorship

Veteran conservative pundit and former Treasury official Monica Crowley has been confirmed as the Assistant Secretary of State and Chief of Protocol, holding the rank of ambassador.

Her nomination was approved by the Senate 52–45, signaling a high-profile comeback to government service during President Donald Trump’s second term.

Crowley previously held the position of Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Treasury, where she was honored with the department’s highest honor, the Alexander Hamilton Award.

She will represent the administration at important events and work with foreign dignitaries in her new position. She will also be in charge of U.S. protocol for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, and America’s 250th anniversary.

Crowley offers decades of experience with a background in international affairs and the media. She began contributing to Fox News in 1996 and has made many appearances with the late Alan Colmes and Sean Hannity. She is the author of multiple best-selling books and has a Ph.D. in international relations from Columbia University.

Republicans are making progress on economic issues as she is confirmed. According to recent CNN and Reuters/IPSOS polls, when voters are asked which party has a better economic plan, the GOP leads Democrats by as much as 12 points. Public opinion on the economy remains Republican despite efforts to criticize Trump’s tariff policies.

Harry Enten, a CNN analyst, noted that Democrats were unable to change public opinion and expressed surprise at the polling trends. Crowley’s appointment to her new position is indicative of Trump’s ongoing reliance on devoted, media-savvy officials with prior administration experience.
